Join Timepoint for an evening of works for film and live music. In the tradition of silent film come and experience three enthralling works for film and ensemble. Gabriel Mălăncioiu (composer) and Julio Pot's (director) multiple awarding winning work The Gift begins the evening. The Gift is the story of an ordinary couple, when he gives her a small sphere pulled out his chest, she can't separate herself from her new gift… even after they break up. Greek composer Yannis Kyriakides's work The Arrest is next on the screen. The Arrest is based on a dream of George Perec. It is from a collection of 150 dream narratives which he published in 1973 as "La Boutique Obscure". The particular dream used in the arrest is typical of a recurring nightmare which he used to have of being stopped and arrested by the police, a fear which he perhaps carried from the experience of his parents who were deported and killed in the holocaust. Closing out the night is the complete Oddboy and Erordog by Marcus Fjellström. We presented episode 1 in September, this evening we will be presenting the complete suite which is made up of all three episodes. Oddboy and Erordog is a story about a boy and his dog being sent off on ambiguous missions by a nameless authority in a semi-abstract environment, structured around the aesthetics and parameters of early 1980’s computer games.
